Greeley Tribune
From June through August 2013, Melissa interned at The Greeley Tribune. It was there that she was able to write 30 press releases, a healthy eating article, and four features, including stories on non-profit organizations, sculpture artists, local singers and more. Melissa learned how to re-write her work, as well as copy editing skills. She was frequently sent out to report on events, including a Cub Scout event, the Steam Engine that stops in Greeley, and evaluate the Greeley Stampede rides, food and games.

Rocky Mountain Collegian
Melissa was hired in August 2013 by the Rocky Mountain Collegian, as the Assistant Editor of the news desk. With this being a new position, Melissa copy edited news stories, and was asked to develop a new layout for briefs for the daily newspaper; which she was writing.
At the end of her first week, Melissa was promoted to the Community Desk Editor. She is in charge of five Editors at Large, who blog about their experience with different organizations on campus. She wrote daily briefs and attended nightly budget meetings to go over the next day’s paper. Melissa has written over 50 briefs since August; which include the daily weather, cheapest gas prices, RamRide volunteer numbers for the safe ride home program, city and campus news, the local police blotter, and job and internship opportunities.
